In the third part of Cobra Kai Season 6, they explore the questionable past of Daniel LaRusso’s former mentor, Mr. Miyagi. It was disclosed that he had been implicated in a violent event leading to another man’s hospitalization. This leaves fans speculating if Mr. Miyagi was the one who physically attacked the man and what could have provoked such an action.
Inquiring about who Mr. Miyagi fought and the reasons behind his actions, here’s a look into the intriguing background of this esteemed martial arts master.
Why Mr. Miyagi beat up a man revealed in Cobra Kai Season 6
It’s said that Mr. Miyagi resorted to violence against a prison officer due to the fact that this individual had taken a treasured necklace belonging to his late wife. The necklace held great sentimental value for Mr. Miyagi.
In Part 2 of Season 6, Daniel discovered a box containing hints suggesting that Miyagi may have had a darker past than he previously believed. These clues implied that Miyagi was not just the peaceful and kind man Daniel knew, but also competed in the Sekai Takai tournament and possibly took a life. This revelation led Daniel to delve deeper into the truth and even question his previous understanding of his old mentor.
The significant meeting between Mr. Miyagi and the prison guard was finally delved into during the last episode of Season 6, titled “Ex-Degenerate.” At a family gathering where Daniel’s mother Lucille hosted a dinner, she gifted Sam a pearl necklace in honor of her graduation. Remarkably, this very necklace had once belonged to Mr. Miyagi’s late wife.
Later on, Lucille narrated the history behind the pearl necklace – it had once belonged to Miyagi’s mother and was given to him by his father as he prepared to depart from Okinawa. His father suggested selling it for funds, but Miyagi chose not to let go of this sentimental keepsake instead.
After their marriage, Miyagi kept the necklace and passed it to his wife. Tragically, she lost her life in an internment camp during the war, and a guard seized her precious necklace. Later on, Daniel disclosed that Miyagi felt compelled to do so and retrieved the necklace from the guard.
Later on, Lucille explained that Mr. Miyagi was forced to engage in a struggle with the guard who assaulted him. Moreover, prior to his passing, he requested that Lucille give the necklace to Sam.
