At the conclusion of the recent PlayStation State of Play broadcast, Housemarque unveiled their upcoming title – Saros. This game promises a fresh, solo adventure that builds upon the studio’s established style, with an expected release in 2026.
In simple terms,
The initial sneak peek at Saros unveils the futuristic universe of Housemarque’s upcoming exploration. The story revolves around Arjun Devraj, a character who journeys to the alien planet Carcosa in search of a missing colony. In this game, Rahul Kohli embodies the role of Devraj, lending his appearance to the main character.
Housemarque explains that their goal in developing Saros was to construct a deeply moving and potent narrative that delves into the sacrifices required to forge a fresh beginning. In a recent blog entry, the team elaborated on how Saros differs from Returnal.
In the gameplay of Saros versus Returnal, a significant difference lies in the concept of permanent resources and advancement. This means that every death you encounter is valuable because you’ll find yourself in a different world each time, but what sets Saros apart is that after each death, you can selectively upgrade your equipment loadout permanently from an assortment of evolving weapons and suit enhancements. In essence, you get a chance to “return stronger” to conquer the difficulties you encounter on Carcosa.
