Based on a recent article from The Film Stage, director Yorgos Lanthimos has announced his next project following Bugonia, and it will be a film titled “Fatale.” This upcoming movie is an assassin thriller based on Jean-Patrick Manchette’s 1977 novel with the same name.

The book unfolds the tale of Aimee, a skilled hitman, who settles into a coastal community as she blends in with the local residents.

In the original novel by Manchette, Aimée is either seen as a ruthless swindler or the embodiment of contemporary capitalism, but there’s no denying she’s both lethal and highly skilled. This time, she has her sights on a small, secluded town. Pretending to be an innocent (yet undeniably attractive) newcomer, she plans to uncover old feuds and create fresh chances, skillfully manipulating different individuals and agendas for her usual purpose – making a profit. However, something unexpected happens: the master tactician succumbs to a raw and uncontrollable emotion.

At this moment, no details about the cast or plot have been disclosed for the upcoming movie. However, Yorgos Lanthimos has been quite occupied lately, having directed two films – ‘Poor Things’ released in 2023 and ‘Kinds of Kindness’ set for 2024.

In the future, Lanthimos is working on a movie called Bugonia, which is a 2025 English-language adaptation of the 2003 South Korean film “Save the Green Planet!” by Jang Joon-hwan. This upcoming film will feature Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons, along with Alicia Silverstone, who are both collaborators of Lanthimos.
