The star-studded lineup for “The Dog Stars” film is expanding, as per Deadline’s reports, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, and Guy Pearce are nearing agreements to be a part of Ridley Scott’s upcoming production.

Who else is in The Dog Stars cast?

A group of three actors are in the final stages of negotiations to be part of the forthcoming film, starring Jacob Elordi as well. Elordi stepped in for Paul Mescal who had to withdraw from the project due to prior commitments. The storyline is adapted from Peter Heller’s 2012 novel “The Dog Stars,” and scriptwriting duties are handled by Mark L. Smith, known for his work on “The Revenant” and “Twisters.” Additionally, Smith will serve as a producer alongside Cliff Roberts and Scott Free.

The movie takes place in a future that’s remarkably different from today, as suggested by the film’s description. In this story, Elordi portrays Hig, a pilot residing on an abandoned airbase. A fortuitous encounter with Bangley, a former marine (played by Brolin), puts them in a situation where they must collaborate to traverse this perilous and unyielding new environment.

In the upcoming production, Qualles has been cast as the character Cima – a youthful physician and daughter of a weary rancher portrayed by Guy Pearce. Their paths are destined to cross with Hig during his global expedition.

I’m stepping into the spotlight after delivering a standout performance in the chilling horror flick “The Substance,” which garnered critical acclaim and even an Oscar nod. On the other hand, Brolin is riding high on the success of 2024, where he graced the screen in both “Dune: Part Two” and the humor-filled crime comedy “Brothers.

In the upcoming installment of the Knives Out series and a 2025 remake of The Running Man, Guy Pearce will be making an appearance. His most recent performance, which was highly praised by critics, was in the movie The Brutalist, where he acted alongside Adrien Brody.

The story of The Dog Stars unfolds in a not-too-distant future after an unnamed pandemic has severely affected American society. In this desolate setting, a civilian pilot leads a solitary existence on an abandoned Colorado airbase along with his loyal dog and a former marine. Despite their differences, these two men find themselves relying on each other for survival as they ward off roaming attackers. A glimmer of hope emerges when a mysterious transmission is received through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, stirring something deep within the pilot that suggests a better life might exist beyond their heavily guarded boundaries. With everything at stake, he decides to venture past the point of no return and pursue the static-filled signal.

20th Century Studios’ upcoming movie is anticipated to start shooting in the spring of next year, with the Bee Gees movie tentatively set for production by Scott in autumn 2025.

A release date for The Dog Stars has not yet been announced by 20th Century Studios.
