In an unusual twist, the upcoming Apple TV+ movie titled The Gorge, set to premiere on February 14, 2025, will be released on what is traditionally considered the most romantic day of the year. However, Sigourney Weaver, one of its stars, asserts that this sci-fi horror film could make for an unconventional yet fitting choice as a Valentine’s Day movie.
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Weaver expressed her opinion that the movie is perfect for Valentine’s Day. She described it as a fantastic choice for a date because it’s frightening, and you’ll find yourselves clinging to each other from around the first half hour. Furthermore, she mentioned that it’s one of those films that keep you on edge with its suspenseful atmosphere, leaving you guessing what will happen throughout.
Weaver commented that it was “very clever” to launch the “romantic, suspenseful love tale” on Valentine’s Day.
Who is involved in The Gorge with Sigourney Weaver?
In a different setting, Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy portray characters named Levi and Drasa, who are both skilled agents stationed at opposing vantage points along a deep chasm. As the narrative unfolds, they uncover a shared responsibility to safeguard humanity from an enigmatic threat lurking beneath the abyss.
In the synopsis for the Apple TV+ series, two skilled operatives, Teller and Taylor-Joy, are assigned posts in towers at opposite ends of a massive and top-secret chasm. Their task is to safeguard the world from an unknown, ominous danger that resides within. As they maintain their vigilance against an unseen adversary, they form a connection from afar. When they learn about a catastrophic threat to humanity, they must collaborate, testing their physical and mental prowess, to conceal the danger in the chasm before it’s too late.
Scott Derrickson is at the helm for The Gorge, a film he’s directing from a script by Zach Dean. This marks Derrickson’s first directorial project since 2021’s The Black Phone. The team behind The Gorge includes producers David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, C. Robert Cargill, Sherryl Clark, Adam Kolbrenner, Zach Dean, and Gregory Goodman.
The Gorge begins streaming on Apple TV+ on February 14.
