Monster Hunter Wilds’ endgame bosses may be a lot tougher than you’re used to since the devs don’t want you to “breeze through” just because you have the right gear

The Monster Hunter series focuses on the action of tracking and vanquishing monstrous creatures. Moreover, the items obtained from these slain beasts, such as their hides, limbs, tusks, and other body parts, are utilized for enhancing your own equipment. In Monster Hunter Wilds, the creators ensure that players can’t easily conquer the game using a single powerful character setup. Instead, it demands that you understand the strengths and vulnerabilities of the high-level adversaries to emerge victorious.

In an interview with RPG Site, game director Yuya Tokuda expressed that they aimed to avoid a situation where having a specific set would allow players to easily win any endgame battles. Instead, they wanted the experience for endgame hunts to be noticeably different from battling story monsters.

In Monster Hunter World, some players, including myself, found it challenging when monsters like Lunastra demanded wind resistance to stay alive. I understand the frustration. Just as in Bloodborne, I prefer a playstyle where I select a build that appeals visually or plays enjoyably, stubbornly refusing to alter my gear, even if a boss seems impenetrable. However, it’s clear that the Wildspire developers are aiming for a different kind of gameplay experience.

They inform RPG Site that because these final-stage creatures aren’t essential for completing the main storyline and are optional battles instead, they find it acceptable to challenge players with the need to create a more intricate character setup or strategy.

Farming particular weapons or armor in Monster Hunter Wilds indeed makes the game more of a grind, but it also prevents us from finishing the game too swiftly and then complaining about a lack of content. The developers find themselves in a tough spot; they’re criticized whether they include farming or not. Therefore, if you wish to have an easier time defeating the toughest enemies, I recommend studying up on the best weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds.
