How To Start The Troubadours Quest

To embark on this journey, make your way to the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn and venture into the tavern inside. At one of the tables, you’ll find an unusual pair who are deep in conversation. These two, George and Michael, seem fond of poetry. They will ask Henry for a lute, mentioning that it can be found on the carpenter’s wall in Troskowitz.

Acquiring The Lute From The Carpenter During The Troubadours Quest

Navigate towards Troskowitz, seeking the spot where the bards pointed out. You’ll find the carpenter strolling around his abode; should you engage him in conversation, he’ll share the story of how he acquired the lute but won’t part with it for any price. Since stealing is your only recourse, it would be wise to don discreet attire and bide your time until nightfall.

Head towards the door and carefully open it using a lock-picking tool (it should be straightforward). Once inside, notice the door to your left. Behind that door, you’ll spot a lute hanging on the wall to your left. Swiftly take it and discreetly exit through the same door without making any commotion.

If you’re found stealing, the guards will make you either repay what you took or face the consequences, damaging your Standing and reducing your temporary abilities for a while. With the lute in hand, you can return to George and Michael at the Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn.

Before departing from Troskowitz, don’t forget to stop by Butcher Bashka and pick up his offered sheep guts – a move that will spare you considerable effort and money (less than half a Groschen).

Dealing With The Drunkard During The Troubadours Quest

After handing the lute to the bards, you’ll witness a scene featuring a tipsy individual who unintentionally shatters the instrument. George and Michael suggest retaliating against him, but if you manage to convince them with a successful Persuasion test, you can skip the fight. If you fail the test or opt for the alternative solution, you’ll have to get physically involved in a brawl, and a few blows should be enough to make him surrender.

The troubadours lament the damaged lute, causing Henry to propose repairing the strings. They recommend you seek help from Hunter Vostatek, located close to Vidlak. If it’s your inaugural visit to Hunter Vostatek’s abode, you need to finish the Lackey side quest initially. This quest involves saving the hunter from a group of wolves and handling poachers. You can find a comprehensive guide for the Lackey side quest in this link.

After returning home, feel free to discuss lute strings with the hunter. If you’ve already purchased sheep guts from Butcher Bashka, he may remark on your peculiar inventory before crafting the strings for you.

If you didn’t purchase them, you would need to acquire a sheep and slaughter it for meat on your own. Alternatively, you could take on the quest called Birds of Prey, where you’ll encounter more individuals who are illegally hunting wildlife.

Keep in mind that killing any animal will void the “LentTrophy/Achievement.

Paying Off The Debt During Troubadours Quest

Approach George, Michael, and share details about the strings. They’ll explain that Innkeeper Lawrence refuses to let them depart because of an outstanding debt. To tackle this issue, there are two possible solutions:

1. Convince Innkeeper Lawrence with a successful persuasion test (speech check) and pay 100 Groschen (which might be negotiable).
2. Settle the debt by helping out at the inn instead of paying the full amount.

For the second choice, go towards the barn’s right side and excavate the outhouse there. Once finished, grab the bags located near the cart and move them into the barn. You will need to transport a total of eight sacks to finish the task. After wrapping up both duties, return to Lawrence to settle your debt. Speak with the bards one last time to initiate a cutscene, signifying the end of the quest.

Regrettably, there’s no system for earning rewards or coins upon finishing the Troubadours quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, regardless of any requests made.
