Discussions about R. Madhavan‘s future film roles inevitably stir enthusiasm among fans, who are eagerly waiting to see what he will deliver next. Back in 2024, it was revealed that Madhavan would portray the role of India’s groundbreaking scientist G.D. Naidu in a biopic.
Presently, it appears that the actor has begun filming for the movie. In an exclusive conversation with IANS, the movie’s executive producer, Muralidhar Subramaniam, disclosed that approximately 95% of the film will be filmed at the real locations where the events occurred, enhancing its authenticity.
Additionally, he mentioned that “the rest, around 5%, will be filmed overseas. Some sections of the international filming have already been done, with the remainder being filmed as production progresses.
The executive producer casually mentioned that they would start filming the Indian scenes on February 18th, and it’s during this timeframe that we can expect to learn additional information about the movie, including its title.
It’s not necessary to point out the obvious, but a biopic necessitates comprehensive study and an in-depth knowledge of the subject’s personal and professional background. To this end, the executive producer highlighted the significant work invested in portraying G.D. Naidu’s life story. “The director and his team have dedicated more than 5 years to studying G.D. Naidu.
As a fervent admirer, I’d put it this way: I’ve always been captivated by one man – G.D. Naidu, often hailed as India’s Edison and Coimbatore’s Wealth Creator. His accomplishments are numerous, but there’s one that stands out to me – he was the pioneer who first brought electric motor manufacturing to our nation’s shores.
Among all the suitable candidates, it’s R. Madhavan who seems most fitting to carry forward G.D. Naidu’s legacy. Previously, he played the role of Nambi Narayanan in “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” a portrayal that won him a National Award.
The upcoming biopic doesn’t have a name yet, but it’s going to be a collaborative project between Varghese Moolan Pictures, led by Varghese and Vijay Moolan, and Tricolour Films owned by R. Madhavan and Saritha Madhavan. Krishnakumar Ramakumar is set to direct the movie, with Aravind Kamalanathan taking on the role of the cinematographer.
