The long-anticipated preview for the movie titled “Jurassic World: Reborn” has been unveiled. However, their expedition takes a perilous turn when they stumble upon a startling revelation. In the trailer, viewers get a glimpse of a fresh dinosaur breed called the D-Rex, piquing interest about its characteristics. Therefore, what sets the D-Rex apart in “Jurassic World: Reborn”?

Here is everything you need to know about this new species in the science-fiction action drama.

What is the D-Rex dinosaur species in Jurassic World Rebirth?

Diabolus Rex, aka D-Rex, is a mutant dinosaur species in Jurassic World Rebirth.

A new dinosaur, named D-Rex, has been brought to life by scientists who’ve blended characteristics from various top predators. Rumors on Reddit suggest that this creature was an unsuccessful clone, but it’s set to cause significant problems. With four arms and based on actual flawed cloning experiments, D-Rex boasts the immense size and ferocity of a T-Rex along with the cunning of a raptor. It can also elongate its jaw like a snake and disguise itself like an octopus, making it look like a cuttlefish. In the upcoming film, this massive beast is causing trouble for the island’s crew, as seen in the trailer.

The trailer presents D-Rex as the film’s possible dino adversary. He’s large and resembles a Tyrannosaurus Rex, but his forehead is more like that of a Pachycephalosaurus. Throughout the trailer, D-Rex takes center stage. A scene recalls a significant moment from the original movie, bringing back memories of the T-Rex’s famous flare display. The trailer also highlights D-Rex’s massive clawed foot. Moreover, a sequence implies that a scientist is trapped with D-Rex in an air-tight chamber, hinting at a gruesome fate for the scientist at the dinosaur’s paws.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, director Gareth Edwards described the D-Rex as a mix of the T-Rex, Star Wars’s Rancor, and Alien’s Xenomorph. He explained, “There was some Rancor in there, some H.R. Giger, and a touch of T. rex…” Apart from the D-Rex, viewers can expect various prehistoric animals to appear in the movie as well.

Jurassic World Rebirth is slated to release on July 2, 2025.
