Shocking Lawsuit Alleges Neil Gaiman Committed Rape and Human Trafficking

In an unexpected development, renowned fantasy writer Neil Gaiman is facing a federal lawsuit across three states, which, if proven true, could significantly impact his distinguished career. The charges include rape, human trafficking, and other forms of abuse. The lawsuit was initiated by a former nanny, Scarlett Pavlovich, who accuses Gaiman and his estranged wife, musician Amanda Palmer, of human trafficking and sexual assault.

Known primarily for his works like “Coraline,” “Good Omens,” and “Sandman,” Neil Gaiman is currently dealing with numerous accusations of sexual misconduct that have been made against him over the last few months. The most recent update involves a federal lawsuit that was filed in Wisconsin earlier this week.

In an initial account shared on the Tortoise Media podcast “Master” and later in a New York Magazine article, Pavlovich asserts that Palmer obtained her services by employing her as a nanny for their child, which she suggests was not a straightforward employment arrangement. The ensuing lawsuit alleges that the couple took advantage of her financially and sexually.

According to the lawsuit, it’s alleged that Palmer deliberately brought Scarlett to Waiheke Island, intending to use her unpaid work. This way, Palmer gained benefits from this recruitment, receiving free childcare, work, and labor from Scarlett. Additionally, Gaiman is said to have intentionally encouraged Scarlett to provide her services or labor when he authorized Palmer to offer her a job as their live-in nanny.

The lawsuit additionally accuses Palmer of being knowledgeable about Gaiman’s prolonged pattern of sexual misconduct. It is stated in the lawsuit that Palmer had expressly warned Gaiman that he would cause significant harm to Scarlett if he mistreated her. This warning was given by Palmer because he was aware of Gaiman’s history of sexual misconduct.

Pavlovich claims that Gaiman and Palmer owe him more than a million dollars in compensation, due to allegations of assault, battery, causing severe emotional distress intentionally, and negligently causing extreme emotional distress (in addition to simple negligence against Palmer).

In 2020, a New Zealand resident named Pavlovich crossed paths with Amanda Palmer for the first time. At that moment, Palmer was living separately from her partner, Gaiman. Reportedly, Palmer requested Pavlovich to take care of their shared child. As per Pavlovich’s lawsuit, it is alleged that Amanda Palmer was aware of Pavlovich’s mental health issues, and Gaiman’s history of inappropriate sexual behavior towards women, which sometimes occurred without their consent.

In this ongoing lawsuit, Pavlovich’s claims are a major focus, but it’s important to note that she isn’t the only one making accusations against Gaiman. Other women have spoken out about their experiences, both in the “Master” podcast and with New York Magazine. Among them is a North Carolina therapist going by the name Claire, as well as Caroline Wallner, and a former caretaker on Gaiman and Palmer’s property.

The consequences of these accusations have come quickly and harshly. Gaiman is no longer working with his comic book publisher, Dark Horse Comics, and the Netflix series “Sandman” has officially been terminated following its second season. Several other television and film projects linked to Gaiman have temporarily halted their production.

In response to the accusations, Neil Gaiman clearly stated on January 14th: “While I’m not perfect, I’ve never been involved in any form of non-consenting sexual activity throughout my life.

In the midst of these accusations swirling around the comic and literary world, it’s evident that the industry is standing at a critical juncture. Although it’s crucial to keep in mind that these are yet-unproven allegations and Gaiman should rightfully receive fair treatment, the weight and quantity of claims cast a shadow. If corroborated, these allegations could very well signal a significant change or even an end to Gaiman’s career as it currently stands.
