X-Men MCU Movie Gets Release Date Window Update, Casting Timeframe

A production window for Marvel Studios’ X-Men movie has reportedly been revealed.

As Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe wraps up “The Multiverse Saga,” Marvel is now shifting focus towards introducing the X-Men. According to reports from Deadline in May 2024, Michael Lesslie is in discussions for writing the upcoming MCU film featuring the X-Men.

Since that point, there hasn’t been much updates regarding the project, except for a burst of speculation surrounding the cast and conjectures about the timeline for the introduction of the X-Men.

It seems that we might hear the formal casting announcements for the upcoming X-Men film quite possibly in the near future, as per Jeff Sneider’s insights from The InSneider.

According to Sneider’s post on X, it’s rumored that the filming of X-Men will start next year, aiming for a 2027 release. This suggests that we might hear casting news and even announcements about the director in the upcoming months. I have a feeling that this year’s CinemaCon is going to be quite exciting!

What else do we know about Marvel’s X-Men movie?

News emerged recently, following Sneider’s report on The InSneider, suggesting that Julia Butters could potentially take on the role of Kitty Pryde in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men film. However, it’s important to note that this casting is not officially confirmed yet since Marvel has yet to comment on the subject.

Moreover, it’s rumored that Sadie Sink from Stranger Things and Harris Dickinson of Babygirl could potentially take on the roles of Jean Grey and Scott Summers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, this casting has not been formally verified as fact.

This year, from March 31st to April 3rd, 2025, CinemaCon is set to take place. If Marvel chooses this location for their X-Men announcements, it will surely be an exciting event.

Currently, the only Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie slated for a 2027 release is “Avengers: Secret Wars,” set to hit theaters on May 7. However, before that, several other movies are planned. On Valentine’s Day, 2025, you can expect to see “Captain America: Brave New World.” Following this, “Thunderbolts” is scheduled for release on May 2, 2025. Then, on July 25, 2025, “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will be out. After that, look forward to “Avengers: Doomsday” on May 1, 2026, and finally, “Spider-Man 4” is set for release on July 24, 2026.
