This upcoming film delves into an alarming issue in pediatric care that arises when complex diseases, insufficient research, and child protection boundaries intersect. The movie focuses on Ehler’s-Danlos syndrome and is set to make its world debut at the 2025 Slamdance Film Festival on a chilly Sunday, February 23rd.

This production titled “Complicated” is helmed by director and producer Andrew Abrahams. Executive producers for the project are Tracy Finnegan and Charlotte Deering McCormick, while Donna Sullivan shares the producing role with him. Notably, it’s an offering from Open Eye Pictures.

What is the Complicated documentary about?

This documentary, titled “Complicated,” highlights the plight of children suffering from rare and intricate diseases whose treatment exceeds conventional medicine’s capabilities. In the movie, we discover that Elvis Presley suffered from it, which accounts for his energetic dance routines and struggle with prescription drugs. Interestingly, a former Miss America also had this condition, yet it remained hidden.
