Cult of the Lamb Devs Called Elon Musk’s X Gold Program “A Horrible Waste Of Money”

In contrast to Elon Musk’s X Verified Organizations program, the creators of Cult of the Lamb have chosen to allocate their resources towards a worthy cause rather than participating in it. Here’s an overview of the events that have transpired thus far.

A Horrible Waste Of Money” AKA The X Gold Program

Elon Musk’s revamped social media platform, previously recognized as Twitter, provides a premium service for companies. This program comes with a golden verification badge and increased visibility within the app. Originally priced at $12,000 per company, there are now more affordable packages tailored to smaller businesses.

The more affordable choice, labeled as “basic plan”, demands a monthly fee of either $200 or an annual payment of $2,000. This plan, as stated in the official X account, offers “ad credits and priority support to aid faster growth on X“. However, it’s important to note that this basic plan lacks some benefits offered by the $12,000 tier.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that the entry-level package doesn’t come with the “Affiliations” perk, which allows companies to link their profile to other accounts. These linked accounts then enjoy some premium benefits and display their affiliation with the company on their profiles. Moreover, the $12,000 tier provides a “double boost” for posts made by companies on the platform, something that’s not available in the basic package. So, it seems like the only truly lucrative option is still the pricier one.

As a passionate gamer, I must say it’s surprising to learn that the creators of the captivating rogue-like indie game, Cult of the Lamb by Massive Monster, have decided to take a stand against some software, believe it or not, on platform X.

Elon and Twitter Gold aren’t appealing to me at all, especially when it costs approximately $1,000 per month. Instead of squandering that amount, we decided to donate $1,000 monthly to different charities this year. We’re starting with Doctors Without Borders!

Donating To Charity Instead Of Musk

In their article, the studio labels the Verified Organizations program as an unnecessary expense and decides to contribute $1,000 monthly to charities, thus channeling the funds typically allocated for the X program towards philanthropic causes instead.

The charitable organization, Doctors Without Borders, will be the initial recipient of Massive Monster’s generosity. This organization provides medical aid to communities in need. In response, Massive Monster also shared a link to their donation page for those who wish to make personal contributions. Furthermore, they encouraged other businesses to emulate their philanthropic efforts.

If you are an organisation considering renewing your gold tick, maybe use that money for charity instead.

As a gamer, I’ve got to say that I’m truly appreciative of the developers’ recent move, and it seems like the gaming community agrees with me. It feels great to see such unity! Now, I wonder if other game companies will follow suit. What are your thoughts on this? Let’s hear it in the comments below!
