Robert De Niro to Lead Netflix Crime Thriller The Whisper Man

Award-winning actor Robert De Niro has agreed to take the main part in Netflix’s forthcoming crime thriller film titled “The Whisper Man“, which is adapted from Alex North’s popular 2019 novel of the same name. It’s anticipated that filming for this project will commence on the East Coast during the spring season.

This represents De Niro’s most recent partnership with the streaming platform, following the critically-acclaimed 2019 gangster film The Irishman. In addition to the forthcoming crime movie, he will also make an appearance in Netflix’s upcoming political thriller miniseries Zero Day, which is his first significant TV role as the main character.

What is The Whisper Man about?

The movie centers on a crime novelist who has recently lost his wife. When his 8-year-old son is kidnapped, he turns to his long-estranged father, an ex-detective, for assistance. However, during their search they uncover links to a cold case of a notorious serial killer dubbed The Whisper Man.

James Ashcroft will take charge of directing The Whisper Man movie, which was scripted by Ben Jacoby and Chase Palmer. This production is undertaken by AGBO (led by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco), with Kassee Whiting and Marcus Viscidi serving as executive producers.

AGBO is thrilled to begin our sixth film collaboration with our outstanding partners at Netflix, shared Russo-Otstot in a statement. “The Whisper Man” is a chilling thriller, yet it centers around a profoundly emotional and intricate tale of fathers and sons. We’re thankful to have Robert De Niro, an exceptional actor, leading the story, while James Ashcroft brings his remarkable directing skills to the table.
