Sony Pictures recently released a preview video for their upcoming action-comedy spinoff of the Anaconda horror series, set to hit theaters on December 25th, 2025. This fresh take on the franchise is something to look forward to!
In this tale, a group of friends dealing with mid-life issues decide to recreate one of their beloved childhood movies in a rainforest setting. However, things take a dangerous turn as they encounter real-life perils such as extreme weather events, colossal snakes, and ruthless criminals.

Who is in the Anaconda video?
The video features Jack Black (from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) and Paul Rudd (Avengers: Endgame) in a musical setting with Brazilian actor Selton Mello (I’m Still Here). This gathering introduces the primary cast. In this production, you’ll see Jack Black portraying Doug McCallister, Paul Rudd as Griff, Selton Mello as Santiago, Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) playing Claire Simons, Steve Zahn (The White Lotus) taking on Kenny Trent, Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad) as Ana Almeida, and Ione Skye (Wayne’s World) in the role of Malie McCallister.
The upcoming Anaconda reboot is being helmed by director Tom Gormican, who collaborated with Kevin Etten on the script. This project is based on the original franchise conceived by Hans Bauer, Jim Cash, and Jack Epps Jr. Notably, this will be Gormican’s third time directing a feature film, following his work on That Awkward Moment in 2014 and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent in 2022. Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing the movie.
The horror series kicked off in 1997 with the release of a movie titled “Anaconda” which featured Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, and Owen Wilson. Thanks to its impressive box office performance, it resulted in three follow-ups: Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004), Anaconda 3: Offspring (2008), and Anacondas: Trail of Blood (2009). Additionally, a crossover movie, Lake Placid vs. Anaconda, was produced in 2015.
