As a thrilled admirer, I’m excited to share that the first official trailer for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” has surfaced online! For those of us who missed last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, this is our long-awaited introduction to the iconic team making their MCU debut. Interestingly, a fleeting glimpse of John Malkovich’s character is subtly included in the trailer. Naturally, this has sparked curiosity among fans about who this 71-year-old acting legend might be portraying in the upcoming film.

Is John Malkovich playing Red Ghost in The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ trailer?

At this point, it’s not yet clear whether the actor from Con Air will portray Red Ghost in the trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse claims that John Malkovich is said to have been chosen for the role of Ivan Kragoff (also known as Red Ghost), a character introduced in Fantastic Four comics back in Issue #13, which was published in January 1963. This character is portrayed as a brilliant Russian scientist who developed an obsession with Cosmic Rays.

As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: Following the Fantastic Four acquiring their powers from space ray exposure during an expedition, Kragoff concocts a daring plan. He constructs his own spaceship, recruits a troop of apes as passengers, and blasts off into the cosmos to be bathed in those same rays. The result? Himself and his simian comrades transforming into formidable, ray-empowered beings!

Afterward, Kragoff and his troop of super-powered apes engage in a conflict with the Fantastic Four on the Blue Area of the Moon. His motivation is to demonstrate Russia’s dominance over the United States. Unfortunately for him, he is eventually bested by the Fantastic Four. In the end, they quell him by inciting his own apes to turn against him, having uncovered that the Red Ghost had mistreated them.

In the end, Kragoff finds himself adrift in space accompanied by his simians, who turn against him. But eventually, he manages to return to Earth and regain command over them. Subsequently, the Red Ghost repeatedly clashes with the Fantastic Four, and even engages in battles with other superheroes such as The Avengers.

As for John Malkovich’s specific character, it remains undisclosed at this point, but The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to premiere in cinemas on July 25, 2025. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon-Moss Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are the stars of the main quartet.
