A Buffy the Vampire Slayer sequel series is close to receiving a pilot order at Hulu.
Originating from the mind of Joss Whedon, Buffy the Vampire Slayer stands out as a legendary supernatural drama series. This show is an adaptation of the 1992 film with the same title. The main characters in this series are Sarah Michelle Gellar portraying Buffy Summers, Nicholas Brendon as Xander Harris, and Alyson Hannigan playing Willow Rosenberg.
Per Variety, Hulu is now close to approving a pilot order for a Buffy the Vampire sequel series.
It’s rumored that Gellar is in advanced discussions to return to her character in the upcoming show, which still doesn’t have a name. However, it’s been reported that this show will primarily focus on a new Slayer, with Gellar expected to appear in a recurring role instead of being the main character.

What else do we know about the Buffy the Vampire sequel series?
Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckman are set to write, oversee, and manage the new show. Chloé Zhao is additionally signed on to direct and produce this project through her Book of Shadows studio, while Gellar, Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui, Kaz Kuzi, and Dolly Parton will all serve as executive producers.
20th Television and Searchlight Television are producing the project.
In reference to an article by Variety in 2021 that alleged a “toxic work environment” during the filming of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it is anticipated that Whedon will not make a comeback to the set.
Previously, a television series spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer called Angel debuted in 1999. This show ran for five seasons, concluding in 2004. Joss Whedon was behind both the creation of the series and its main characters: David Boreanaz as Angel, Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia Chase, and Alexis Denisof as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce.
Both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are currently available to stream on Hulu at this time.
