Battlefield Studios rolls four studios working on the franchise into one global group

Today, the teams responsible for Electronic Arts’ Battlefield series revealed some intriguing updates. Not only are they developing the next installment with fan input, but they have also combined into a new studio unit called Battlefield Studios. This consolidated group includes original developer DICE, alongside EA studios such as Criterion Games, Ripple Effect, and EA Motive. Now, each of these four studios will specialize in various aspects of the game’s development, with their combined efforts focusing on the Battlefield franchise.

Today, a special presentation unveiled Battlefield Studios, a worldwide collective of studios now dedicated to collaborating on upcoming games within the Battlefield franchise. DICE is responsible for developing multiplayer features such as map design and destructibility, while Motive focuses on creating both multiplayer maps and single-player content. Ripple Effect and Criterion are assisting in these efforts and also aim to create fresh experiences that could attract new players by expanding the game’s scope.

The most recent Battlefield title was Battlefield 2042, which concluded with Season 7 in 2024. Throughout its lifespan, the game experienced significant growth, with Vince Zampella from Respawn taking charge of the franchise since 2021. Despite some difficulties faced by 2042, it appears that Electronic Arts (EA) and the newly established Battlefield Studios are committed to smoothing out any future obstacles as they work on the next game in the series.

At this point, all we can confirm about the upcoming Battlefield game is that it will take place in a contemporary environment. Keep an eye on our Battlefield discussions as we’ll be sharing additional information soon.
