ESA shares statement on Trump tariffs, cites potential harm to video game industry

As apprehension escalates, the Entertainment Software Association has expressed concern about the potential damage these tariffs might inflict and suggested that the White House engage in discussions with video game companies prior to implementation.

The ESA shared the following statement with Kotaku on Trump’s proposed tariffs:

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve found myself pondering the potential effects of these fresh tariffs on the pricing of my beloved devices, such as the PS5, Xbox Series X, and the soon-to-be-released Nintendo Switch 2, all of which are manufactured abroad.

Although tariffs might impact games directly, their influence seems diminished due to digital marketplaces becoming the predominant platform for game purchases.
