Fans went mutts over Dog Man at the domestic box office this past weekend.
Over the weekend in the U.S., Universal’s Dog Man animation raked in a whopping $36 million. This is the second-largest debut for an animated film during January, trailing only DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda 3, which made $41.8 million back in 2016.
According to the deadline, Warner Bros. Pictures’ movie “Companion” earned the second spot at the box office with a revenue of $9.5 million. This might not be a blockbuster start, but it generated enough income to cover the approximately $10 million spent on its production costs.
In a recent ranking, The Lion King claimed the third spot, followed closely by One of Them Days and Flight Risk in fourth and fifth respectively. The Brutalist made an impressive $1.86 million, landing it in ninth place. Meanwhile, Steven Soderbergh’s Presence has dropped out of the top ten after its second week on screen.
