In simpler terms, the German team gave their all during the tournament, but they were unable to advance when they met the rapidly improving French team, who played exceptionally well and earned a place in the next round.
BIG Struggle on Their Own Map Pick
In the Katowice tournament, Ancient once again proved challenging for BIG. This map has consistently caused them issues, and their struggles against 3DMAX were no exception. Despite being well-prepared on defense, they failed to convert their advantageous positions. Initially leading 9-6 on their defensive side, things began to unravel. 3DMAX went on a 7-2 streak, snatching the win from BIG in an agonizing manner, 13-11.
In Katowice, Ancient continued to pose problems for BIG. Throughout the tournament, this map has been troublesome for them, and their difficulties against 3DMAX were evident. Despite being well-prepared on defense, they couldn’t turn their setup into points. With a lead of 9-6 on their defensive side, things started to slip away. 3DMAX managed a 7-2 run, snatching the win from BIG in a heartbreaking manner, finishing 13-11.

In his reflection following the defeat, Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz acknowledged that they were generally in the right positions, but their opponents executed well and they missed their shots. They lost three rounds on map B where they outnumbered their opponents 3:1, even managing to kill the initial player, but ultimately fell apart afterward.

Throughout the entire game, BIG’s inability to secure victories in promising rounds was a persistent issue, especially on their CT side. This problem persisted even when they moved onto Inferno, where 3DMAX’s unyielding aggression and tactically sound play gave them minimal opportunity to recover. As a result, 3DMAX easily claimed victory on Inferno, leading 9-3 at half-time and eventually winning 13-6 convincingly.
BIG Show Signs of Progress, Despite the Exit
BIG’s tournament started off poorly with a 0-2 defeat to Wildcard, where they were overwhelmed 0-12 on the map Ancient during the first half. However, they showed remarkable resilience by winning against Imperial fe and HEROIC, advancing them to the main stage. This comeback hinted at a possible deeper run, but Ancient again proved their undoing in the second phase. Losing their own map choice narrowly against FaZe (1-2), they suffered the same fate against 3DMAX in Katowice.
From Katowice, despite some tough moments, it was a commendable debut at our first LAN event. We’ve got to raise our game in competitions like this moving forward…
Looking forward to seeing you in Cluj and thank you for your continued support!

Even though we didn’t end up on top this time around, the new blood in our team, Kyuubii Ali and Hyped Köhn, really shone. The recent roster adjustments have definitely given us a much-needed boost of energy, especially considering our inconsistency towards the end of 2024. German CS fans can keep their fingers crossed, as there’s definitely reason to be hopeful for the future.
In response to the team’s performance being reviewed, tabseN expressed optimism about their advancement, saying: “To be honest, I’m not sure what happened, but as you pointed out, it’s been quite impressive so far. I remain proud of them. It was our first LAN tournament together and I am still proud.
Heads up, captain!

Although their IEM Katowice run didn’t yield the desired results, the refreshed team has displayed glimpses of promise. With further growth and development, this version of BIG might pose a greater threat in the competitive CS:GO scene. Their next LAN appearance will be at PGL Cluj-Napoca, commencing on February 14.
