Player First Games, the creators of the multiplayer fighting game MultiVersus (published by Warner Bros.), have shared some unfortunate news: the game is set to close down. Starting from the upcoming fifth season, this will be the last one, followed by a shutdown of the servers once it concludes.
In a letter to players this morning, it was announced that the game MultiVersus has reached its conclusion, with the upcoming season serving as the last content update. The studio has confirmed that on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. Pacific Time, MultiVersus will officially cease operation. After this date, players can still engage in local matches and battles against AI opponents.
The option for buying items within MultiVersus is now unavailable, and the game itself will be erased from online marketplaces when it’s officially shut down.
MultiVersus debuted in May 2024, following a year-long hiatus that followed the end of its open beta testing phase. The game faced criticism for various aspects, including alterations from the beta version and content offerings – issues we too highlighted in our review. Interestingly, Warner Bros. acquired Player First Games back in July 2023.
