James Gunn Shocks Fans: Superman’s Face is 100% Real, No CG!

A recently unveiled 30-second TV commercial for James Gunn‘s upcoming Superman film has left fans puzzled about the changes in the Man of Steel’s facial appearance. The advertisement, named “Icon,” was debuted on Jan. 27 and showcases David Corenswet’s Superman soaring through a vast frozen landscape in an extended shot.

In this particular scene, Corenswet’s eyes seem wider and more separated than typical, leading one viewer of Threads to comment, “Something about his face seems slightly odd. I understand they have time to perfect the computer-generated imagery.

In response, Gunn stated: “His face has no computer-generated effects whatsoever. A wide-angle lens can make faces appear differently when used up close. The backdrop in Svalbard, Norway, is completely authentic, just like David.

Meme creators seized the opportunity to poke fun, replacing the actor’s face in various shows with characters like Steve Buscemi’s Mr. Deeds’ Crazy Eyes, Marty Feldman’s Igor from Young Frankenstein, and other googly-eyed personas, based on Corenswet’s distinctive appearance.

Man the new #Superman looks awesome! I missed Marty Feldman

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that the upcoming blockbuster from Warner Bros., set to premiere on July 11, 2025, boasts an impressive lineup of talent. Among them is Nicholas Hoult, who dons the cape as Lex Luthor, a role I eagerly anticipate seeing him portray. Rachel Brosnahan steps into the iconic shoes of Lois Lane, a character whose journalistic prowess and romantic entanglements have always intrigued me.

Adding to the ensemble are Isabel Merced, who takes flight as Hawkgirl, and Milly Alcock, who graces our screens as Supergirl. I can hardly wait to witness these dynamic performances unfold on the big screen. This production promises to deliver a thrilling cinematic experience that is not to be missed!
