The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl Disney+ Release Date for Concert Special

Disney confirmed that their newest concert special, “The Lion King,” will be available on Disney+ on a specific release date. This special event took place on May 24 and 25 at the Hollywood Bowl, marking the 30th anniversary of the original animated movie.

At the special performance, spectators will be transported to the Pride Lands as a grand orchestra, under the direction of conductor Sarah Hicks, performs Hans Zimmer’s powerful, award-winning music. Famous songs such as ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight,’ ‘Circle Of Life,’ ‘Be Prepared,’ and ‘Hakuna Matata,’ written by Sir Elton John and Sir Tim Rice, will be performed live. This unique concert event combines an impressive 70-piece orchestra, gifted dancers, cutting-edge visuals using projection mapping, and the acclaimed costumes and puppetry from the Broadway show.

Starting on February 7, 2025, The Lion King concert at the Hollywood Bowl will be streamed exclusively on Disney+. This unique event boasts Grammy winner Heather Headley, original Lion King composer Lebo M, Jeremy Irons (the voice of Scar from the 1994 film), Nathan Lane (Timon from the same year), Billy Eichner (Timon from the 2019 remake), Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa from 1994), Jason Weaver (Young Simba in the original film), and Bradley Gibson (Simba from the Broadway production). Additionally, special guests North West and EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson will make appearances.

This special event commemorates the 30-year journey of The Lion King, tracing its roots from the 1994 animated movie, through the 1998 Tony Award-winning Broadway play, to the 2019 live-action adaptation.
