In the fresh installment of “Will Trent Season 3,” Ramon Rodriguez’s character, Will Trent, encounters his ex-girlfriend Angie for the first time since their split in Season 2. The fourth episode of this season finds Will and Angie working on a case together, bringing them back into each other’s lives even though he had arrested her at the end of Season 2. Co-showrunner Liz Heldens has recently shared insights about the future of these former lovers. Although Erika Christensen’s character, Angie, explicitly rules out any romantic involvement, Heldens appears to have different plans for the relationship between Will Trent and Angie in “Will Trent Season 3.”
Liz Heldens talks Will Trent and Angie’s future in Season 3
In a recent chat, the seasoned TV scribe confessed that the possibility for more twists in the intricate romance between Will and Angie remains somewhat open at this point.
In an interview with TVLine regarding the progression of Will Trent Season 3, creator Liz Heldens mentioned, “She’s considering giving it a go. You see, they each have their perspective on what occurred at the end of Season 2. Hers is ‘You arrested me in public,’ while his is ‘I had no choice.’ So, I believe she’s striving to preserve her dignity and is genuinely trying to free them both from any lingering guilt.”
Later on, Helden revealed that Angie’s intense reaction towards her intricate relationship with Will might have been a temporary response. “You understand how people can express feelings one day and feel otherwise the next? We try to change, but we sometimes slip. You promise to alter, and you falter, so let’s wait and see. However, I believe she was sincere in that moment,” she added on.
While Will is navigating his current relationship with Angie, it appears he may have met another potential love interest – Gina Rodriguez’s character ADA Marion Alba. In fact, Heldens hinted at a possible romance between Will Trent and Alba in Season 3, despite her comments about Will and Angie. As the co-showrunner mentioned, their relationship becomes intriguing in Episode 6.
