Who is involved in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein?
The cast for Frankenstein features Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz.
Guillermo del Toro is responsible for both writing the script and directing the film adaptation of Mary Shelley’s acclaimed 1818 novel, “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.” Del Toro, along with Gary Ungar and J. Miles Dale, serve as producers on this project.
In simpler terms, the Netflix description tells us that Guillermo del Toro, who has won an Oscar, is taking Mary Shelley’s story about Victor Frankenstein – a smart but arrogant scientist – and transforming it into a film. This tale reveals how Frankenstein creates a monstrous being through a daring experiment, which in the end brings about the destruction not just of his creation, but also Frankenstein himself.
Guillermo del Toro frequently acknowledges Mary Shelley’s work as a significant influence on his professional journey. For more than ten years, del Toro has harbored the desire to bring the story of Frankenstein to life on the big screen.
In a statement following his BAFTA win for The Shape of Water, director Guillermo del Toro expressed that among all English literary greats, it’s teenage author Mary Shelley who holds a profound place in his life – almost like family. He often finds himself drawing inspiration from her when facing difficulties or skepticism about his cinematic visions, saying “I think of her.
In his latest venture with Netflix, acclaimed Mexican director Guillermo del Toro is working on a new project, following his success with Pinocchio, a stop-motion film released in 2022 which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Additionally, in the same year, he presented Cabinet of Curiosities, a horror anthology series that premiered on Netflix around Halloween.
