Asmongold: Twitch’s Newest Political Commentator?

In the midst of current global power shifts, two popular online content creators, representing different political viewpoints, are capitalizing on the turbulence.

Twitch’s Political Circus: Asmongold vs. HasanAbi

Initially renowned in the MMORPG realm, Asmongold stepped away from his primary channel in 2022 to evade public attention. However, this tactic proved futile as he continues to draw the same number of viewers under the new alias ‘zackrawrr’. Rather than battling raid bosses, he’s now analyzing Donald Trump’s recent actions and expressing his thoughts on global affairs.

He doesn’t play very often, but instead, about 85% of his streams are categorized as ‘just chatting’. On average, these streams attract around 55,000 viewers, which is equivalent to a full stadium watching him discuss (or get worked up about) the news. In just the last two weeks, his viewership has experienced an incredible increase of 130%.

A long-time political commentator on Twitch, known as HasanAbi, recently accused Asmongold of fostering a “sanctuary for Nazis” due to his ambiguous remarks regarding the Holocaust. Asmongold retaliated, and even his editor took aim at HasanAbi, claiming he was downplaying acts of terrorism.

HasanAbi perceives Asmongold as enjoying his recent rise to prominence, while Asmongold believes that HasanAbi might be overestimating his own importance.

After receiving a Twitch ban due to his remarks on the Gaza conflict, he’s allegedly taken some time for personal contemplation, which is what he suggests. However, it still remains uncertain if any modifications will occur in his future content.
