Description: This new romantic comedy is titled “The Wedding Banquet”, directed by the talented Andrew Ahn (known for his work in ‘Fire Island’). It’s a modern adaptation of the 1993 film, featuring an ensemble cast including Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran, and others.

What happens in The Wedding Banquet trailer?
The trailer for The Wedding Banquet presents two unique couples: Chris (Yang) and Min (Han Gi-chan,) as well as Angela (Tran) and Lee (Gladstone). All four reside under one roof. In order to remain in the U.S., Min devises a plan by proposing to Angela, even though he’s already in a relationship with Chris. However, matters become complicated when Min’s grandmother decides to attend the wedding of Min and Angela, which was previously undisclosed to her.
Angela and her companion Lee have had bad luck with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatments and cannot afford another round. Meanwhile, their friend Min, a wealthy heir of a multinational business dynasty but with an expiring student visa, proposes an unusual solution: a green card marriage in exchange for financing Lee’s IVF. However, their secretive plan to elope is disrupted when Min’s suspicious Korean grandmother unexpectedly arrives, demanding a grand wedding celebration instead.
The cast of The Wedding Banquet also includes Joan Chen and Youn Yuh-jung.
In 1993, the film “The Wedding Banquet,” directed by Ang Lee, made its debut. The cast includes Winston Chao, May Chin, Mitchell Lichtenstein, Gua Ah-leh, Lung Sihung, among others.
At the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, “The Wedding Banquet” was first shown. This film will hit U.S. movie theaters on April 18, 2025, distributed by Bleecker Street.
