House of David Trailer Previews Prime Video’s Biblical Historical Drama

Amazon’s streaming platform, Prime Video, has released a preview for its forthcoming biblical drama titled “House of David“. This series promises to narrate the captivating tale of the main character, who ascends to become the revered ruler of ancient Israel.

The TV series “House of David,” produced by Jon Erwin (Jesus Revolution) and Jon Gunn (Ordinary Angels), will debut on Amazon Prime Video starting February 27. The initial three episodes will be available, with new episodes following each week. After an extensive four-month global casting process, the role of David was given to Michael Iskander, who has recently appeared in the critically acclaimed musical Kimberly Akimbo.

Alongside Iskander, the cast of House of David also includes Ali Suliman portraying King Saul, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam, Stephen Lang in the role of Samuel, Indy Lewis as Mychal, and Martyn Ford taking on the part of Goliath.

What is House of David about? 

The narrative unfolds, detailing David’s journey from a commoner to the monarch of Israel. It additionally recounts the events preceding his legendary clash with Goliath.

The television series “House of David” portrays the rise of the biblical character David, who eventually becomes a highly respected and admired king of Israel. This narrative traces the downfall of King Saul, who was brought low by his excessive pride. Guided by God, the prophet Samuel chooses an unassuming, outcast teenager as the next king. With Saul losing control over his kingdom, David embarks on a quest to understand and fulfill his destiny. This journey involves navigating love, grief, and violence within the court of the man he is destined to succeed. As one ruler declines, another must ascend.

Completing the ensemble are Yali Topol Margalith (from The Tattooist of Auschwitz), Sam Otto (known for Snowpiercer), Oded Fehr (familiar from Star Trek), Louis Ferreira (recognized in Shogun), Davood Ghadami (the Chelsea Detective), Ashraf Barhom (seen in Tyrant and The Last Planet), and Alexander Uloom (featured in Sari and Amira).

According to Erwin’s concept, the upcoming series will be produced by a collaboration between Wonder Project, Amazon MGM Studios, Nomadic Pictures, Argonauts, Kingdom Story Company, and Lionsgate Television. Erwin is also taking on the role of executive producer for this project. Other executive producers include Gunn, Jonathan Lloyd Walker, Justin Rosenblatt, Chad Oakes, and Mike Frislev.

House of David premieres on February 27 on Prime Video.
