On January 6th, 2025, the 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena, will step into the ring for the WWE Royal Rumble event. This announcement was made during the same evening as the RAW episode, which also happened to be the Netflix debut of the show. Significantly, this event marks the beginning of John Cena’s farewell tour as he prepares to retire from professional wrestling.
In his interview, Cena discussed his goal of claiming the WWE World Heavyweight championship for a 17th time, surpassing the 16-time win record set by WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
Though Cena admitted to his 2,446-day run of losses, he declared his participation in the Men’s Royal Rumble match with unwavering self-assurance. Moreover, he promised to create a new chapter at WrestleMania 41 by claiming the WWE World Heavyweight Championship for an impressive 17th time.
Following his debut on January 6th, fans anticipated that John Cena would frequently show up on WWE television. Yet, ever since he declared his involvement in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Cena has been absent from WWE TV screens.
With the Royal Rumble 2025 just around the corner, set to take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this weekend, speculations are arising regarding John Cena’s absence following the event.
