As the anticipated “Daredevil: Born Again” series approaches its release, showrunner Dario Scardapane has given insight into the possibility of Tatiana Maslany’s character, She-Hulk, appearing in the first season.
In episode 8 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s She-Hulk, Charlie Cox’s horn-blowing vigilante (Daredevil) initially met Jennifer Walters. As Daredevil is back on our TV screens now, viewers are curious if these crime-fighting superheroes will cross paths again in the future. During a recent interview, Dario Scardapane addressed this question, offering clarity about She-Hulk’s possible involvement in the series moving forward.
Dario Scardapane on Daredevil: Born Again’s link with She-Hulk and No Way Home
As per Scardapane’s statement, Daredevil is recognized as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with a well-established backstory within the franchise. However, it has been clarified by the acclaimed producer that the upcoming series “Daredevil: Born Again” will not incorporate several events from this history, such as the encounter between She-Hulk and Matt Murdock, played by Charlie Cox.
In an interview with SFX magazine, Scardapane explained, “We create a uniquely defined Daredevil, encompassing his struggles, as well as details such as his costume and the stage of his life we introduce him at” (as reported by GamesRadar+).
He went on to explain that Daredevil is indeed part of the MCU’s canon, and events like those in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk have taken place. However, not all these events will be fully explored or emphasized. His encounter with She-Hulk might fall under these less emphasized incidents.
It appears quite improbable that the relationship between Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) and Matt Murdoch (Daredevil) as initially portrayed in She-Hulk, will deepen in the upcoming series Daredevil: Born Again. Instead, the trailer suggests that Matt might form a new romantic connection with Margarita Levieva’s character, Heather Glenn, who could potentially become his love interest in Hell Kitchen.
Scardapane playfully hinted at what viewers can anticipate from the forthcoming series. He mentioned, “I won’t reveal any secrets, but there’s a character appearing in our show who you wouldn’t expect, yet they seamlessly fit into the narrative and feel authentic to our storyline.
Daredevil: Born Again premieres in the US on March 4, 2025, on Disney+.
