DC’s Lanterns Star Says Green Lantern Series Begins Filming Sooner Than Expected

As a die-hard DC fan, I can’t contain my excitement about the forthcoming “Lanterns” superhero series! This upcoming installment is set to be a significant addition to the DCU franchise, with its focus on the Green Lantern Corps straight out of the comics. The storyline falls under Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, and it boasts an impressive cast that includes Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, and Poorna Jagannathan. In a recent chat, Jagannathan revealed that production will kick off earlier than some fans might have anticipated, hinting at the potential release date window in the process. I can hardly wait!

Poorna Jagannathan reveals Green Lantern series starts production on Tuesday

In a recent chat with Collider, Poorna Jagannathan shared that they will commence camera testing on January 28th. Speaking about the series, Jagannathan expressed, “This script is one where I finally get why there’s an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). Everything about it is mind-blowing. It contains the best writing I’ve ever come across.

The Never Have I Ever star revealed that she was unfamiliar with science fiction and didn’t show much interest in it. Yet, the Lanterns script made her feel as if she belonged. “This script makes science fiction feel like my own realm,” she explained. “It makes this genre so relatable to me. Even though I don’t grasp the concept of this world, I can comprehend everything about it. Therefore, it’s the best science fiction script I’ve ever come across,” she concluded.

Significantly, the series titled Lanterns primarily focuses on characters Jordan and Stewart, who are involved in an Earth-based mystery. The Lanterns ensemble will also feature Garret Dillahunt and Kelly Macdonald in diverse roles. More recently, Banshee’s Ulrich Thomsen has joined the cast as Sinestro.

Lanterns’ release date could be scheduled for 2026

As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that Lanterns is rumored to have eight episodes, which means we’re in for a long ride during production. Since it belongs to the superhero franchise, I suspect there will be plenty of post-production work too. All this points towards a possible 2026 release date – can’t wait that long!
