Nevertheless, the Bazooka star enthusiastically backed the project and showed keen curiosity about how the movie could become a success. Interestingly, it was Mammootty who proposed that actress Meena join the project, and she ultimately portrayed Mohanlal’s on-screen spouse in the Malayalam film.

To put it simply, the movie Drishyam was an overwhelming success at the theater, becoming a blockbuster hit. Its initial release took place in 2013, with a sequel appearing in 2021. Both parts of this film featuring Mohanlal garnered massive box office earnings and were adored by fans for their exceptional quality.

Continuing on, the movie Drishyam was adapted into various dialects such as Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. In the Bollywood version, it starred Ajay Devgn as the main character.
