In contrast to the previous Netflix series of “Daredevil: Born Again,” Dario Scardapane, involved in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) version, assures us that it will feature significantly less introspection or self-examination.
In March, Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again will debut on Disney+. This series stars Charlie Cox and continues the story from Netflix’s Daredevil series, which ran for three seasons. The co-creator of this new show, Scardapane, is also its showrunner.
What did Dario Scardapane say about Daredevil: Born Again and the Netflix show?
As a devoted admirer, I recently had the pleasure of learning directly from Scardapane about the unique twist that Marvel Studios’ upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series will bring, departing significantly from its predecessor on Netflix.
According to Scardapane, there’s much more enjoyable interaction with these characters compared to what was experienced previously, and there seems to be significantly less self-reflection or introspection.
He added, “The initial performance, at its peak, was amazing. At its trough, it was simply two characters discussing the essence of a hero. I found that concept repetitive. I’m not criticizing. I just didn’t find pleasure in listening to characters complain about their circumstances. I wanted them to act instead.
Scardapane further noted that Daredvil: Born Again will be “much darker.”
He expressed his opinion that the original Daredevil series on Netflix was significantly more “noir,” with a distinct focus on crime in New York City. He noted similarities to The Sopranos and King of New York, suggesting a nostalgic ambiance reminiscent of classic ’90s crime stories. He also pointed out that the new show had a unique pace and scale that Netflix wasn’t able to achieve, referring to its darker, cinematic feel, although it still contained some dark story elements.
The upcoming series features Vincent D’Onofrio in the roles of both Wilson Fisk and Kingpin, Deborah Ann Woll portraying Karen Page, Elden Henson playing Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna-Fisk, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, and Wilson Bethel in the character of Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter, or Bullseye. In addition to these actors…
Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, from Marvel Television.
