Finn Wolfhard‘s meteoric rise to fame can be attributed to his leading role in Netflix’s Stranger Things, and as the show gears up for its last season, Wolfhard looks back on the almost decade-long journey he’s experienced with it.
What did Finn Wolfhard say about the Stranger Things ending?
During a recent interview with Variety in their Variety Studio, Wolfhard discussed his feelings about wrapping up Stranger Things after nearly a decade. He described the experience as profoundly emotional and mentioned that the filming of the last season was particularly demanding.
Wolfhard expressed that the experience was incredibly heartfelt, as it marked the culmination of the past ten years in his life. Similarly, for the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, it signified a significant milestone, having started their work at 30 and now turning 40. Throughout this journey, everyone involved had shared an experience that felt like childhood companionship. In essence, it was similar to saying goodbye to beloved toys in Toy Story 3; it was truly unique and memorable.
2021 was quite an epic journey for us, as we embarked on a year-long filming extravaganza reminiscent of ‘The Lord of the Rings’. It was an intense and rewarding experience that seemed fitting as our grand finale. I must say, it couldn’t have ended more perfectly. Promoting [‘The Legend of Ochi’] now feels like stepping into a post-graduation phase, and I’m brimming with excitement about what the future holds for this project.
In the upcoming Season 5 of Stranger Things, we’ll see Winona Ryder reprising her role as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Joe Keery as Steve Harrington, Maya Hawke as Robin Buckley, Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair, Jamie Campbell Bower as the villain Vecna, Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler, Amybeth McNulty as Vickie, and Linda Hamilton in a role yet to be disclosed.
In the span of May 23rd to May 30th, Stranger Things Season 4 was watched for over 287 million hours on Netflix, making it the most-watched title of that week on the streaming platform. Moreover, this viewership surpassed the previous record for Netflix’s biggest English language series premiere weekend, which was previously held by Bridgerton Season 2 with 193 million hours.
