2898 AD marked one of the 2024 releases for Telugu films that opened up a fresh perspective. The epic science fiction movie, “Kalki,” directed by Nag Ashwin, boasted a stellar cast from Indian cinema’s elite. Rumors about its sequel have been circulating for quite some time, and recently, the director has provided some insight on the matter.

According to a recent, unattributed conversation with Koimoi, filmmaker Nag Ashwin hinted at an estimated release timeframe for the follow-up to the movie “Kalki 2898AD”. He stated that the drafting of the script for the sequel has been finished.

The shooting hasn’t started just yet because the actors haven’t finalized their schedules for the movie. Therefore, production can’t start until mid-year, and we won’t see this film in theaters until late 2026.

However, he noted that the schedule was provisional as well, given that most of the actors involved are busy with upcoming projects. This is particularly true for Prabhas, who currently has several movies in the pipeline.

At present, it appears that Prabhas’ schedule is quite full, given the numerous projects he has lined up. In addition to his current work on Hanu Raghavapudi’s Fauji, he is also set to begin Maruthi’s film titled The Raja Saab.

In addition, he is set to collaborate with Sandeep Reddy Vanga on Spirit and with Prashanth Neel for Salaar 2 as well.

Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan finds himself juggling multiple projects such as Thug Life, Indian 3, and KH237. At the same time, Amitabh Bachchan is keeping busy with his demanding film commitments, while Deepika Padukone is taking a break following the birth of her daughter, Dua.

Returning to discuss the Nag Ashwin-directed film that has just been released in Japan, it’s worth noting that it’s been doing incredibly well at the box office.
