Coach Kim Caldwell of Tennessee women’s basketball team recently welcomed her first child, Conor Scott Caldwell, and had to take time off due to the birth. As a result, she missed the game against No. 7 Texas. The school reports that both Caldwell and her son are healthy. In Thursday’s match, assistant coach Jenna Burdette took over as interim head coach for the 17th ranked Lady Vols.

In a tight matchup, the Tennessee Lady Vols fell to Texas by a score of 80-76, bringing their season record to 15 wins and 4 losses. Interestingly, all four of their defeats this season have been extremely close, with only eight points separating them from victory. Three of these losses were against ranked teams. The Lady Vols are known for their high-scoring offense, averaging 94.3 points per game. They also lead in both the number of three-point attempts and makes.

In April 2024, the 36-year-old coach moved to Tennessee following an outstanding year at Marshall. During her time there, she managed to get the team into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1997. Over the course of her career, she has an impressive coaching record of 217 wins and just 31 losses.
