Despite the fact that Insomniac Games announced their upcoming Wolverine title several years back, details regarding its release date remain scant. Nevertheless, it is set to be their next major project.
During a PlayStation Showcase held in 2021, it was announced that the game was in a preliminary stage of development. Notably, at that time, the studio was also busy working on the Marvel’s Spider-Man sequel.
Now that “Spider-Man 2” has been released, with Insomniac Games not announcing any fresh content for the game, fans are anticipating updates about a potential Wolverine appearance.
So far it seems however, the studio isn’t ready to share more about the project yet.
“Pent up excitement”
Lately, the trio heads of Insomniac – Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang – had a chat with Variety, and during their discussion, the subject of the popular video game featuring Marvel’s most renowned X-Man emerged.
While stil not confirming (or denying) the release of Wolverine in 2025, Dezern said:
We’ve announced Wolverine, and we’d love to talk more about Wolverine, but we have to be like Logan today, and remain very stoic until it’s time to pop the claws down the road. As much as we have pent up excitement, we got to hold on to it. So that’s about as much as we could say about our upcoming projects today.
Besides the information we’ve had since then, our knowledge about the game dates back to 2023. This was when Insomniac Games experienced a cyber-attack, resulting in an unfinished early development version of the game appearing online.
To date, there’s no definite release date for the Wolverine game yet, but given Insomniac’s enthusiasm for the project, there’s a strong chance it could come out in 2021.
