At first, she disregarded the comments as unwarranted negativity. However, when healthcare professionals also expressed worries about her physical appearance, Schumer started paying closer attention to the issue.
Medical professionals hypothesized that she could be suffering from Cushing Syndrome, a health issue caused by excessive cortisol, a stress hormone, typically due to steroid intake. Schumer, who underwent steroid injections as part of her treatment for scarring post-breast reduction and a C-section, eventually recognized the connection between her symptoms and her treatment regimen. She acknowledged, “It turns out I was getting these steroid injections, which led me to develop Cushing syndrome – something I wouldn’t have known if it weren’t for how extensively the internet informed me.
