Electronic Arts (EA) lowers FY25 revenue guidance on poor game sales performance

EA has given an early announcement about their financial results for the Q3 FY25 income statement. Originally, they anticipated modest growth in bookings for live services, but now they forecast a drop instead.

On January 22, 2025, EA gave a heads-up about its Q3 FY25 financial results. In this notification, EA mentioned that it is revising its projected total net bookings for fiscal year 2025. The third quarter is now anticipated to bring in approximately $2.215 billion in net bookings. Additionally, the estimated range for the entire fiscal year 2025 has been adjusted from $7 billion to $7.15 billion. This modification is because the company predicts a moderate decrease in sales, with Global Football being responsible for most of this change.

In the third quarter, we kept on producing top-notch games and experiences throughout our collection, but Dragon Age and EA SPORTS Football Club 25 didn’t meet our anticipated net earnings targets, as mentioned by Andrew Wilson, our CEO. This month, our teams introduced significant gameplay enhancements along with the yearly Team of the Year update in FC 25; the initial player feedback and early results are promising. We stay optimistic about our long-term plan and expect a resurgence in growth during FY26, as we carry out our project pipeline.

The Veilguard attracted around 1.5 million players, but that’s about half of what Electronic Arts (EA) had hoped for. However, EA remains optimistic and is planning to expand further as they gear up to release more installments from their popular franchises.
