Tomi Adeyemi’s acclaimed novel “Children of Blood and Bone” is set to come alive on the big screen, as Paramount Pictures has unveiled the leading actors for their highly-anticipated film adaptation. The movie is slated for release in theaters nationwide on January 15, 2027, gracing IMAX screens.

Who is in the Children of Blood and Bone cast?
The film Children of Blood and Bone is directed by an exceptional cast, including Thuso Mbedu (from The Woman King) as Zelie, Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give) as Amari, Damson Idris (Snowfall) as Inan, and Tosin Cole (Supacell) as Tzain. This action-fantasy will also feature renowned actors such as Viola Davis (The Woman King) as Mama Agba, Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) as Admiral Kaea, Idris Elba (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) as Lekan, Lashana Lynch (Bob Marley: One Love) as Jumoke, and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) as King Saran.
This movie revolves around a youthful girl on a mission to rejuvenate magic within her realm. It’s being steered by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King), who collaborated with Adeyemi in writing the script. Adeyemi, Matt Jackson, and Reggie Rock Bythewood are serving as executive producers, while Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Karen Rosenfelt take on the producing roles.
Moreover, it’s being discussed that Regina King, an Academy Award winner, might be added to the cast, alongside Diaana Babnicova and Bukky Bakray. If this comes to pass, King would play Queen Nehanda, Babnicova would take on the role of Folake, and Bakray would portray Binta. Filming is set to start in South Africa within a few weeks.
