The skills of Elon Musk in video games, particularly his boasts about his performance in titles such as Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4, have been a subject of ongoing discussion among his supporters.
Despite some questioning the authenticity of his gaming accomplishments, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has now verified that his accounts were boosted. He openly conceded to sharing accounts and purchasing in-game items with real money, thereby putting an end to the persistent rumors about his performance enhancements.
Musk’s Admission: “Everyone Does It”
In NikoWrex’s latest video, he shared a conversation with Musk through private messages on X, where Musk was questioned about whether he had employed strategies like account-boosting or real-money transactions to advance in Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4. Musk responded with a “100” emoji, suggesting that such techniques are widespread and essential for competing against Asian players, as he stated, “It’s nearly impossible to outperform Asian players if you don’t use them.

He made it clear that, even though he employed boosting methods, when he streamed or participated in games, it was always him personally playing. In a defiant stance, Musk refused to issue an apology, questioning “What is there to apologize for?” Given his status as the world’s richest man, one might assume he would have a more high-profile spokesperson to handle such situations. However, he opted instead for the smaller 3,000-subscriber channel NikoWrex.
Backlash Follows Controversy in Gaming
The general consensus among fans is that Musk’s admission came off as pitiful and an undeniable showcase of his oversized ego. Moreover, people noted that it was blatantly apparent Musk hadn’t lived up to his boasts, particularly after he demonstrated a lack of fundamental game understanding during a live broadcast. Fans emphasized instances where he committed beginner’s mistakes, suggesting that his accomplishments could have been exaggerated from the start.
Apart from his other endeavors, Elon Musk further stirred things up by disclosing his private messages with YouTuber Asmongold, who initially questioned Musk’s gaming abilities. Asmongold suggested that Musk’s achievements were fabricated. However, Musk defended himself on Twitter using a clever argument known as mirroring, asserting that Asmongold was “not skilled at video games”. With all this going on, one can’t help but wonder if Elon Musk isn’t swamped enough with his global backing of right-wing politics… But hey Elon, we say keep up the gaming!
