Call of the Wild: The Angler, an expansive open-world fishing game developed by Expansive Worlds, has been confirmed to no longer be in development. Launched in 2022, it received multiple updates enriching its features and introducing new in-game activities. For now, the servers will continue to operate.
Last week, Expansive Worlds shared a message with their fans to declare that they are ceasing development on CotW: The Angler. In this letter, they expressed that their aim was to bring a unique perspective to the fishing simulation genre, drawing inspiration from their enthusiasm for angling and expansive game worlds. They’ve been thrilled to see your admiration for the environments we crafted and your eagerness to catch something new with every major update.
The studio has announced that past events within the game will be replayed, allowing players to keep experiencing ‘The Angler’ in both online and offline settings.
After finishing Call of the Wild: The Angler, Expansive Worlds is currently developing a new project within the Avalanche Studios Group.
