Since its debut on HBO back in April 27, 2014, we’ve enjoyed every episode – and now, they’re also available on Max. Just recently, as the 10th season was wrapping up, HBO gave us a fantastic surprise by renewing the show for three more seasons, extending its run all the way to at least 2026! Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Season 12 gets a February 2025 release date
John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight returns for Season 12 on HBO this coming Sunday, February 16, 2025, as per Rotten Tomatoes. You can stream the season opener on Max at the same time. The second episode will air a week later, specifically on February 23.
Last Week Tonight officially announced on their page (previously Twitter) that the series will be back for its 12th season in February 2025. A post shared in November 2024 read, “Our finale airs tonight at 11:10pm! John is going to miss everyone during the break between now and our Season 12 premiere in February. He’s even tearing up over it right now. But if we give him a ball to play with backstage for ten minutes, he should perk up. So tune in tonight at 11:10pm!
Before becoming well-known on American television, John Oliver, who hails from Britain, was a stand-up comedian. In the past, he worked as a senior correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Additionally, he wrote for this highly regarded series and hosted several episodes towards the end of his time there.
Starting in 2014, Last Week Tonight has emerged as one of the most influential late-night talk shows on U.S. television. It’s won numerous honors such as Peabody and Primetime Emmy Awards. Notably, it was renewed for three more seasons in December 2023 by HBO. The eleventh season premiered on February 18, 2024, at 11 p.m. ET, and ran for 30 episodes before wrapping up on November 17, 2024.
