Developer Hooded Horse, who created Manor Lords, expresses a willingness to consider different settings for future projects, mentioning they could be intriguing to work on in the future. Following the remarkably well-received early access launch last year, enthusiasts are excited to learn about potential new ideas from this team.
Will Manor Lords explore different settings?
During a conversation for an upcoming episode of the VideoGamer Podcast, Hooded Horse’s community manager, Joe Robinson, disclosed that their lead developer, Grzegorz “Greg” Styczeń, enjoys brainstorming innovative ideas occasionally, particularly when he is asked about potential expansions.
At the moment, it’s unclear what these ‘alternative scenarios’ might be, but some Manor Lords enthusiasts have already pondered over a Rome-themed redesign, which several believe would fit perfectly. Additionally, many players suggest that Feudal Japan could also be a suitable setting for Manor Lords’ detailed gameplay mechanics.
Robinson additionally shared that Greg’s approach was generally about refining as much as possible instead of overwhelming users with numerous quick fixes. He explained, “Greg isn’t against making quick fixes, he said. ‘Sometimes you see people releasing a series of rapid-fire fixes. But Greg prefers to gather everything first and then make all the corrections in one go.’
The number of players for Manor Lords has noticeably decreased since its launch a year ago, reaching an unprecedented high of over 173,000 players nine months back. Nevertheless, it consistently draws more than 10,000 players, even as it remains in the early access phase. Robinson stated that there are several features, like the Castle Planner, which are still under development, indicating that significant enhancements can be expected in future updates.
