This year, Destiny 2 is set to begin a new phase called the Frontiers era, as outlined in Bungie’s 2025 roadmap. The journey starts with Apollo during summer, followed by Behemoth in winter. Last October, extensive story leaks about Frontiers surfaced, causing mixed reactions among players. Now, it appears that these leaked details for Destiny 2’s Frontiers are accurate, so it might be interesting to reconsider the spoilers that were revealed.
Destiny 2 Frontiers leaks
2024 saw leaked information about Destiny 2’s Frontiers expansion surface online from a trusted source named Liz on Discord in October. Known for her accurate leaks related to D2, Liz’s recent revelations were later authenticated as true by D2Leaks on platform X. D2Leaks, who usually waits to confirm details before disclosing them, stated that their initial reluctance to share the leak seemed to have been justified as the information turned out to be accurate.
Below is what was leaked by Liz:
- Story will no longer be one linear narrative.
- Pre-Golden Age train crashes into the city somewhere. Only half of it though, as it came through a portal.
- Some dude on it named Lodi. Somewhere on said train or him is a calling card for the Nine.
- We track the location of the portal’s origins, which takes us to the new destination.
- I’ve been told the name is “Keplar,” although I assume it was supposed to be Kepler. My personal guess is that this is a placeholder name, as Kepler planets are very generic in naming due to the telescope used.
- Upon finding the other half of this train, there’s another character who has left the Nine.
- This planet’s Time is all f**ed up. Seems like vex and fallen will be the enemies here. Vex seeing as time is kind of their thing.
- Apparently, we were “brought” here because some sort of incident with the Nine.
Story beats:
- One of the Frontiers stories focuses on Osiris and the person we find on the train in the new destination.
- One of the fallen houses is on this planet, seem to be the main antagonist.
- Ikora investigates the Lodi guy we found on the train.
- Something to do with Drifter and his ship. I don’t actually know any Destiny lore. So, I’m guessing he has ties.
- Apparently, it’s a Vex raid due to them being there. Personally excited, as we haven’t had a new Vex raid since Shadowkeep.
Although Liz expressed that it sounds illogical despite verifying the source, D2Leaks asserts that it’s accurate. Nevertheless, keep in mind that these are leaked information, not absolute truths.
Despite being mere leaks, fan reactions are mixed. On platform X, a response to D2Leaks reads, “One of the stories revolves around Osiris’ well; that’s my cue, I’m out, enjoy everyone.” Another comment states, “Another predictable, uninspiring expansion with the same old adolescent adversaries. Wow. Groundbreaking. It’s a shame this game has ended.
On Reddit, when the leaks first surfaced, reactions were mixed. Many fans expressed they had grown tired of the Osiris storylines, such as, “I need a break from Osiris narratives for a bit.” Another comment echoed this sentiment, “I’m just so tired of the Vex,” and another added, “The Fallen continuing to be enemies no longer seems logical anymore.
Here’s another way to phrase it: Although these are unofficial disclosures instead of confirmed facts, there’s still a strong chance Frontiers could turn out to be remarkable. It’s worth noting that initial leaks about The Witch Queen received significant criticism, but it ultimately turned out to be outstanding, so the same positive outcome is certainly plausible for Frontiers.
