Oscar-winning actor Ke Huy Quan has revealed what role he hopes to tackle next, prior to the cinematic premiere of Universal Pictures’ action thriller Love Hurts, scheduled for February 7, 2025. This project marks a significant leap into leading roles following the acclaimed success of Everything Everywhere All at Once.
What is Ke Huy Quan’s dream role?
In a recent conversation, it was mentioned that Quan is eager to take on the role of a villain in an upcoming venture, having previously been recognized for his humorous and amiable personas. He shared that he’s receptive to portraying various antagonistic characters as he’s prepared to step beyond his usual comfort zone.
Quan expressed his enthusiasm for taking on an antagonistic role, “I’d be thrilled to play a villain like a Bond nemesis,” he shared with Empire. “Or something similar to Hugh Grant’s character in Heretic. I’m eager to step out of my comfort zone and bring a wickedly evil character to life,” he chuckles. “That would certainly be an exciting challenge.
The movie titled “Love Hurts” is helmed by skilled action choreographer JoJo Eusebio, from a script penned by Matthew Murray, Josh Stoddard, and Luke Passmore. In this film, we see Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Daniel Wu (Tomb Raider), Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch (Bottoms), Mustafa Shakir (Emancipation), Lio Tipton (Lucy), Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level), André Eriksen (Violent Night) and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) in prominent roles. Kelly McCormick and David Leitch serve as producers, with Ben Orman overseeing production.
The movie revolves around Marvin Gable, a realtor in Milwaukee suburbs where ‘For Sale’ signs are abundant. He receives a scarlet envelope from Rose, an old accomplice who he believed was dead. She isn’t pleased. This sets off a chain of events that finds Marvin once again entangled in a ruthless underworld brimming with deceit and real estate open houses turned into battlegrounds. His brother Knuckles, a dangerous crime boss, is hot on his trail. Marvin must now grapple with the ghosts of his past and the secrets he thought were buried for good.
