In a world where submachine guns rule supreme, it can be challenging for other types of weapons to make an impact. However, there are exceptions to every rule, and these exceptions become particularly evident in the shotgun category within Call of Duty: Mobile.
As a gamer, I’ve found that shotguns and SMGs might seem like totally distinct arsenals at first glance, but upon closer inspection, they share some surprising commonalities.
They are both equally adept at causing significant harm in close quarters and offer sufficient mobility for the user to dart around obstacles, enabling them to move in and out of protective positions strategically and outmaneuver opponents.
Absolutely, although the final outcomes might be identical, the methods used to produce these results can vary significantly.
While SMGs typically use smaller caliber bullets and can fire rapidly, shotguns are known for their powerful pellet blasts that can quickly halt enemies.
Over the past few gaming sessions, certain shotguns in Call of Duty: Mobile have significantly improved, demonstrating an impressive ability to eliminate opponents with a single hit, even from relatively far distances such as close quarters and mid-range encounters.
Which among these potent types of firearms takes the top spot? To assist you in finding an answer, we’ve created a tier list for all shotguns, arranging them from best to worst. We’ve considered the adjustments made to the weapon balance during Season 1 (2025).
COD: Mobile Shotgun Tier List
In Call of Duty: Mobile, you’ll find a total of nine shotguns, ranging from pump-action to self-loading fully-automatic ones. Each season typically brings adjustments to one or more of these eight weapons, making it challenging to stay updated on what’s currently ruling the game’s meta (overall strategy or trend).
Luckily, our purpose is to separate the signal from the static, evaluating and categorizing each shotgun within a tier system. The top category, labeled ‘S-tier’, showcases the finest shotguns, while the ‘D-tier’ designates the least effective ones found in Call of Duty: Mobile.
S-Tier
- R9-0
This versatile shotgun, known as the R9-0, is adored by seasoned players due to its simplicity and quick firing capabilities. Equipped with a rapid-fire double barrel mechanism, it swiftly takes down opponents without much hassle. What’s more, it boasts excellent mobility, making it a top choice for those who have been on the receiving end of shotgun damage in recent games – chances are that was this very shotgun doing the damage.
This shotgun is unique in providing the option for a Smoothbore attachment, a feature that can minimize aim-down-sights (ADS) dispersion, bullet scatter, and horizontal recoil. The type of Smoothbore you select will impact these effects to varying degrees.
A-Tier
- KRM-262
- JAK-12 [With Signature Attachment]
The R9-0’s most formidable competitor is none other than the KRM-262. At short distances, this pump-action firearm boasts a lethal one-shot, one-kill performance.
As a gamer, I can vouch that this bad boy excels in medium-to-long range encounters. Its snug pellet pattern allows me some breathing room if I haven’t quite managed to get up close and personal yet.
B-Tier
- BY15
The BY15 pump-action shotgun stands out among its peers due to its exceptional long-range capability, which is unparalleled within the shotgun weapon category.
This weapon boasts a quicker firing speed compared to the KRM 262, but it lags behind in terms of maneuverability, precision, and handling. If you’re a shotgun enthusiast and enjoy using them in battle royale gameplay, this could well be your top choice.
C-Tier
- HS0405
- Echo
- JAK-12 [With the new JAK-12 Dragon’s Breath signature attachment and past changes, the JAK-12 now an A-tier Shotgun]
In simpler terms, the model HS0405 can be considered a somewhat inferior variant to the BY15, which places it in the C category. Its superiority over the BY15 lies only in its mobility, while it falls short on factors like fire rate, precision, and range.
The Echo and JAK-12 share similarities as they are both types of shotguns; however, the Echo operates on a semi-automatic mechanism, while the JAK-12 functions fully automatically.
These shotguns are ideal for individuals who may lack precision, as they have a faster firing speed compared to most other shotgun models.
On the flip side, while these weapons are not part of the high-damage category within their class, their performance is less effective. This makes them a less attractive choice, particularly in situations where using an SMG or being able to land the initial shot would be more advantageous.
D-Tier
- HS2126
- Striker
As a gamer, I gotta say, some weapons in this game are pretty much the bottom of the barrel. When we’re talking about shotguns, you can find the HS2126 and Striker hanging out at the very end of the tier list, like they don’t belong anywhere else.
Among automatic shotguns, the Striker generally outperforms its counterpart with superior statistics overall. However, neither gun delivers sufficient damage to warrant their usage in the Season 8 (2024) gameplay meta. It’s advisable to opt for any other shotgun listed instead.
