In a previous conversation with Dexerto, Jeff Fowler, director of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, pointed out the challenges in creating a movie crossover featuring Mario and Sonic due to the separate paths their film series are taking at the moment.

Fowler explained, “To make our characters look more like real photos, they blend better with our live-action environment and human actors. Blending these worlds isn’t easy to predict, but it might happen someday.” He added confidently that the team remains open to innovative ideas and pitches for such a project, hinting, “Anything is possible in the realm of imagination.

Although the Mario vs. Sonic trailer from KH Studio is a fan-created production, it’s not impossible that a film starring these iconic gaming characters might become a reality someday.
