The Penguin Lessons Release Date Set for Steve Coogan Movie

Sony Pictures Classics has formally revealed that the comedy-drama film “The Penguin Lessons” starring Oscar nominee Steve Coogan (“Philomena”, “The Reckoning”) will hit theaters on a specified date. Before its theatrical premiere, the movie previously made its world debut at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival.

The movie’s plot is based on the real-life account of a British man who took a teaching job in Argentina during 1976, assuming it would be straightforward. To his surprise, he found himself in a nation torn apart and dealing with a group of unreachable students. However, when he saved a penguin from an oil-polluted shoreline, his life takes an unexpected turn.

When is The Penguin Lessons release date?

On March 28, 2025, The Penguin Lessons is set to hit cinema screens. It will be going head-to-head at the box office with The Ballad of Wallis Island from Focus Features, Universal Pictures’ The Woman in the Yard horror thriller, and A24’s Death of a Unicorn horror comedy.

The movie is helmed by Oscar-nominated director Peter Cattaneo, best known for “The Full Monty,” and written by BAFTA award-winning scriptwriter Jeff Pope, famous for “Stan & Ollie” and “The Lost King.” It’s an adaptation of the 2016 memoir penned by Tom Mitchell. The star-studded cast features Steve Coogan as Tom Michel, alongside Jonathan Pryce, Vivian El Jaber, Björn Gustafsson, Alfonsina Carrocio, and others.
